End-Market Demand Trends
Marathon Petroleum Corp · 2026-08-04 · Importance 49 · Surprise 32
Refining & Marketing results benefited from stable refined-product demand and higher product prices in the second quarter of 2026. Refined product sales volumes increased 7 mbpd in the quarter and 55 mbpd in the first six months, while average refined-product sales prices increased $1.12 per gallon and $0.66 per gallon, respectively. Management expects global demand growth to exceed the net impact of refining-capacity additions and rationalizations through the end of the decade, supporting a constructive outlook for U.S. refiners. Gasoline and distillate demand in Midstream markets is seasonally strongest during the May-through-September summer driving season.
