Merck & Co., Inc. · 2026-08-07 · Importance 47 · Surprise 60 · In source text

In January 2026, the acting CDC director changed the child and adolescent immunization schedule, reducing routinely recommended vaccinations and creating categories for universal, high-risk and shared-clinical-decision immunizations. A federal district court in Massachusetts issued a preliminary injunction on March 16, 2026 staying the schedule changes, and the government appealed to the First Circuit. Merck states that any negative sales effect from the HPV single-dose recommendation and altered varicella/MMR recommendations is not expected to be material.
