Microsoft will give the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) direct, on-site access to its quantum computing hardware at a new research center in Maryland. The collaboration includes the University of Maryland and other industry partners, and will allow DARPA to independently test Microsoft’s Majorana 2 chip. The parties are assessing whether quantum-computing approaches can produce economically feasible systems by 2033.
