Motorola Solutions' long-running litigation against Hytera Communications involves alleged trade-secret theft and copyright infringement in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. A 2020 jury award included $543.7 million of damages, $51.1 million of prejudgment interest, $2.6 million of costs and $34.2 million of attorneys' fees; subsequent appellate proceedings affirmed $407.4 million under the Defend Trade Secrets Act while requiring recalculation of $136.3 million in copyright damages. As of July 4, 2026, Hytera had paid $232 million, including $60 million in the first half of 2026, and had reported approximately $116 million in H-Series royalties subject to a court order. Several H-Series proceedings remain under appeal, and Motorola Solutions continues pursuing collection through the legal process.
