Micron collaborated with Microchip Technology to demonstrate an end-to-end PCIe Gen 6 storage architecture at the 2026 Future of Memory and Storage Conference. The prototype combines Microchip’s Switchtec Gen 6 switches with Micron NVMe SSDs for AI, high-performance computing, and cloud data-center workloads. The architecture is designed to increase bandwidth and reduce latency, strengthening Micron’s positioning in enterprise and AI storage systems. The demonstration could support broader adoption of Micron SSDs as data-center customers seek higher-performance storage fabrics.
