NiSource continues its plan to retire and replace remaining coal-fired electric generation by 2028 with a mix of low- or zero-emission generation. The company is modernizing gas infrastructure, deploying advanced leak detection and repair, and evaluating hydrogen and renewable natural gas technologies to reduce methane and greenhouse-gas emissions. NIPSCO’s 2024 Plan incorporates anticipated data-center load growth, EPA emissions rules, and evolving MISO resource-accreditation rules, while the 200 MW Templeton wind project is expected to enter service in 2027. The company also expects a new 400 MW natural-gas peaking facility to support retirement of vintage gas peaking facilities by the end of 2028, subject to MISO approval of final retirement dates.
