Particulate Matter NAAQS Revisions

OGE ENERGY CORP. · 2026-04-29 · Importance 53 · Surprise 60

In February 2024 the EPA lowered the primary annual PM2.5 NAAQS from 12.0 µg/m3 to 9.0 µg/m3 and retained other PM standards, with initial attainment/nonattainment designations to be made within two years of issuance. States must prepare and submit attainment plans within 18 months of nonattainment designations, and litigation on the rule is pending in the D.C. Circuit. OG&E noted the potential for impacts to regional air quality goals and emission limits for sources, but stated it is unknown what, if any, material impacts to OG&E's operating permit limits would result. OG&E is monitoring developments and potential regulatory actions.
