PG&E completed undergrounding 25 miles of power lines in the Lebec area of southern Kern County. The project is expected to reduce wildfire risk associated with PG&E equipment by approximately 98%, improve electric reliability, and lower maintenance costs. PG&E is targeting 1,900 miles of undergrounded power lines by next year and plans to file a 10-year Electrical Undergrounding Plan later this year.
