Second-quarter total operating expenses increased to $2.093 billion from $1.988 billion, despite the $251 million decline in operating revenue. Energy costs rose to $866 million from $826 million, operation and maintenance costs increased to $906 million from $854 million, and depreciation and amortization increased to $321 million from $308 million. PSE&G operation and maintenance expense increased to $545 million from $504 million, while depreciation and amortization rose to $286 million from $275 million. The company attributed PSE&G pressure to higher operation and maintenance costs, depreciation, and interest expense associated with incremental investments and a prior-year transmission true-up.
