PSE&G reached a peak summer load of 10,446 MW on July 2, the highest level in 14 years, indicating stronger New Jersey electricity demand during the early July heatwave. Second-quarter electric sales increased 2% year over year to 9,629 million kWh, including 3% growth in residential sales and 1% growth in commercial and industrial sales. Six-month electric sales rose 3% to 20,000 million kWh, while six-month firm gas sales increased 4% to 1,654 million therms. Gas demand was weaker in the quarter, with total gas sales declining 23% to 541 million therms and non-firm commercial and industrial sales falling 45% to 190 million therms.
