On April 2, 2026, the U.S. Government announced Section 232 tariffs of up to 100% on imported patented pharmaceuticals and ingredients, with exemptions tied to U.S. manufacturing commitments. The measures became effective for Pfizer on July 31, 2026. Under binding agreements with the U.S. Government, Pfizer committed to make certain U.S. drug prices more comparable with other developed countries, offer significant discounts on certain medicines and increase U.S. manufacturing investment. As a result, Pfizer’s applicable tariff rate will be zero through January 20, 2029.
