Distribution orders strengthened materially in the fourth quarter and supported management’s view that the industrial recovery is broadening. Some distributors are stocking for customer projects and anticipated business, but management does not view the overall channel as being in a full restock. North American distribution strength was accompanied by higher OEM production rates in heavy-duty trucks, stronger construction and mining, commercial HVAC growth, and power-generation demand. Management characterized the expected North American industrial improvement as volume-driven within a normal pricing environment.
