Second-quarter 2026 net interest income was $4.107 billion, up $146 million, or 4%, from the first quarter, supported by commercial loan growth and higher noninterest-bearing deposit balances. First-half net interest income rose $1.037 billion, or 15%, year over year to $8.068 billion, benefiting from FirstBank, loan growth and lower funding costs. Net interest margin increased to 2.96% from 2.95% sequentially and from 2.79% in the first half of 2025. Average loans increased 12% year over year to $357.074 billion, while lower deposit funding costs and fixed-rate asset repricing expanded the margin.
