APS reports that its Comprehensive Wildfire Mitigation Plan was approved by the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management as required by Arizona Revised Statutes. The program includes right-of-way clearance, defensible space around poles, hazard-tree management, enhanced patrols, drone and infrared inspections, non-reclosing strategies, and public-safety power-shutoff protocols. Grid-hardening investments include distribution upgrades, mesh pole wrapping, expulsion-limiting fuses, and steel poles, supported by cameras, weather stations, and fire-modeling software. Pinnacle West also maintains a 21-person internal fire-mitigation department and partnerships with federal and state agencies.
