APS was selected to receive up to $70 million in Department of Energy federal funding for wildfire mitigation and grid infrastructure projects. The funding remains contingent on APS negotiating and executing final grant agreements with the DOE’s Grid Deployment Office. APS’s approved wildfire mitigation plan supports infrastructure hardening, fire-resistant pole wrapping, wood-to-steel pole conversions, remote-controllable devices and artificial-intelligence fire-sensing cameras.
