Arizona legislation signed on May 12, 2025 requires electric utilities to develop and seek approval for wildfire mitigation plans and establishes the standard of care for wildfire-related claims by reference to those plans. APS submitted its Comprehensive Wildfire Mitigation Plan to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, and the plan was approved on May 7, 2026. APS was also selected by the Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office to receive up to $70 million for fire mitigation and grid infrastructure projects, subject to final grant agreements. APS continues to invest in infrastructure hardening, enhanced powerline safety settings, fire-sensing cameras, public-safety power shutoffs, and other wildfire-response measures.
