Georgia Power, Southern Company’s subsidiary, signed an agreement with Google to upgrade two nuclear plants and potentially add 96 megawatts of generating capacity. The initiative is intended to serve rising electricity demand from data centers and other large users in Georgia. Subject to regulatory approval, the upgrades are expected to provide approximately $900 million in customer benefits while supporting large customers’ clean-energy goals without shifting associated costs to other customers.
