Georgia Power signed an agreement with Google to upgrade the Vogtle and Hatch nuclear plants, potentially adding 96 MW of electricity capacity. The arrangement is intended to serve surging demand from data centers, including Google’s expanding AI infrastructure, and other large users. The upgrades would provide carbon-free generation and could deliver approximately $900 million in customer benefits over the plants’ lifetimes.
