Texas is experiencing unprecedented electric-demand growth, with ERCOT setting a new all-time peak load of 91 GW in July 2026. ERCOT endorsed high-voltage transmission projects requiring more than $7 billion of incremental investment to support approximately 16 GW of new electric demand, with anticipated in-service dates from 2026 to 2034. Oncor has approximately 44 GW of large-load requests eligible as base or studied load, including 8 GW of existing interconnected large load ramping toward authorized capacity; if fully realized, these requests would represent more than 140% growth relative to Oncor’s current 31 GW system peak load.
