Produced Water Solutions

Texas Pacific Land Corp · 2026-08-05 · Importance 23 · Surprise 24

Permian Basin produced-water volumes have grown alongside oil production, with most produced water injected into subsurface pore space through saltwater disposal wells. Disposal availability varies by regulation, permitted injection rates, pore-space availability, and infrastructure, creating demand for alternative treatment and reuse solutions. Texas Pacific Land’s land holdings contain or adjoin extensive pore space, and commercial agreements allow operators to transport and dispose of produced water across its surface footprint, although the company does not operate saltwater disposal wells. Its patented energy-efficient desalination process is designed to recycle produced water into fresh water suitable for surface discharge and beneficial reuse; the initial facility has a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day and commissioning has commenced.
