Permian Basin Activity
Texas Pacific Land Corp · 2026-08-05 · Importance 15 · Surprise 14
The Permian Basin, spanning approximately 86,000 square miles across southeastern New Mexico and western Texas, is producing more than 6.8 million barrels of oil per day. E&P companies continued robust but measured drilling and development activity, while average rig counts declined year over year and improved drilling and completion efficiencies supported higher aggregate production. Texas Pacific Land’s share of royalty production increased to 38.4 thousand Boe per day for the six months ended June 30, 2026, from 32.2 thousand Boe per day in the prior-year period. The company’s royalty, water, and surface-related revenues remain dependent on operators’ development decisions and Permian activity levels.
