Uber reaffirmed plans to invest heavily in robotaxis and was reported to be expanding its autonomous-vehicle initiatives with more than $10 billion of planned investment. Management expects to expand autonomous-vehicle operations to 15 cities by year-end 2026. The strategy relies on partnerships with vehicle and autonomy providers instead of Uber developing a proprietary driverless fleet. Uber is also testing or planning deployments involving Rivian, Lucid, Nuro, Wayve and other partners, increasing expected capital requirements for the AV program.
