CMS published its federal fiscal year 2027 Psych PPS final rule in July 2026, including a 3.2% net market-basket update after a 0.9% productivity adjustment. After patient-level adjustments and proposed wage-index values, UHS estimates payments to its behavioral health hospitals and units will increase by 2.0% in FFY 2027. The rule also implements a standardized Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Patient Assessment Instrument required by the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act, with reporting required for Rate Year 2028.
