Data Center / Load Growth
WEC ENERGY GROUP, INC. · 2026-08-04 · Importance 58 · Surprise 42
WEC Energy Group is linking a significant portion of its long-term capital plan to hyperscale data-center demand in Wisconsin’s I-94 corridor. Microsoft and Oracle were identified as major sources of expected load growth, with Microsoft covered by a recently signed 15-year power contract for its Mount Pleasant data center. We Energies said Microsoft will not be bound by geographic restrictions that conflict with a Wisconsin Public Service Commission order. Political opposition to future Wisconsin data-center development could constrain incremental load growth and related investment opportunities.
