Economic growth continues in WEC Energy Group’s Wisconsin service territories, with companies investing in data centers and modern manufacturing facilities. Microsoft has announced plans to invest over $20 billion in data centers in southeastern Wisconsin, with the first phase entering service in April 2026 and up to 2.6 GWs of load growth expected in the Milwaukee-to-Chicago corridor through 2030. Vantage Data Centers is developing a Port Washington campus forecast to add 1.3 GWs of demand through 2030, with potential incremental demand of 2.2 GWs for a total of up to 3.5 GWs over time. Microsoft entered into a service agreement under WEC’s newly approved very large customer tariff, while WEC is working with both customers to provide the required power.
