Recycling Commodity Pricing
WASTE MANAGEMENT INC · 2026-10-28 · Importance 35 · Surprise 48
Average market prices for single-stream recycled commodities increased 20% in the third quarter of 2026 but decreased 7% for the first nine months, compared with the prior-year periods. Recycling Processing and Sales yield revenue increased $51 million in the quarter and $21 million year to date, as higher processing fees more than offset commodity declines over the nine months. Renewable Energy yield revenue decreased $8 million in the quarter and $20 million year to date, primarily due to lower RNG pricing, partly offset by higher electricity prices. The Company says its business models and processes are intended to mitigate downside risk from commodity-price changes.
