Energy Products third-quarter earnings increased by $7.660 billion from stronger refining margins and optimization. Specialty Products earnings benefited by $660 million from higher basestock margins, while nine-month earnings increased by $750 million on the same driver. Chemical Products earnings rose by $360 million in the quarter and $870 million year to date, mainly because of North America’s ethane feed advantage; global chemical margins nevertheless declined, particularly in Europe and Asia, as product availability and feed costs remained high.
