Allstate returned $1.3 billion to shareholders during the second quarter, including $1 billion of common-share repurchases. The company has $2.6 billion remaining under its $4 billion repurchase authorization announced in February and committed to complete the full authorization. Over the past decade, Allstate repurchased 39% of outstanding shares and returned significant capital through dividends and repurchases. Management said the company can simultaneously fund organic growth, investments, acquisitions and share repurchases because it generates substantial free cash flow.
