Allstate reported continued growth in auto and homeowners insurance, supported by a 9.9% increase in issued applications and a 3.8% increase in total policies in force to 215.9 million. Auto insurance new business increased to 2.3 million items in the quarter from 1.5 million three years earlier, while homeowners new business increased 46.8% to 411,000 policies. Auto policy growth was 2.8% and homeowners policy growth was 2.9% in the quarter, with management stating that growth remained balanced across Allstate agents, independent agents and direct channels. Management expects to continue fueling issued-application growth through improved lead quality, close rates, agent productivity and bundled products.
