Visa processed its first international card transactions in Syria on August 26, 2026, together with Mastercard. The transactions followed the United States removing Syria from its state sponsors of terrorism list. The launch reconnects Syrian cardholders and merchants with international payment networks and creates a new geographic acceptance market for Visa.
