Visa and Mastercard launched international card payments in Syria, enabling the first international card transactions through the networks in the country. The transactions followed Washington’s removal of Syria from its state sponsors of terrorism list. The launch reconnects Syrian consumers, merchants and financial institutions with global card-payment networks.
