In February 2026 Visa acquired interests in Prisma Medios de Pago S.A.U. and Newpay S.A.U. in Argentina for total cash consideration of $1.5 billion. The company allocated the $1,509 million purchase price across technology, customer relationships, deferred tax liabilities and other net assets and recorded $1,065 million of goodwill, primarily attributable to expected synergies and assembled workforce. Visa stated the acquisition will accelerate deployment of tokenization, biometric authentication, intelligent risk tools and agentic commerce solutions to improve issuer services and consumer speed/security. The purchase is subject to review by the Argentine competition authority.
